Hampton Court (8 May 2009)

Entrance of the Court

Hampton court is very much linked to the famous Tudors dynasty. The most famous Tudors got to be King Henry V whereby he had six wives and also the father to the famous Queen Elizabeth I. The whole Anne Boleyn saga which was greatly written in the book entitled 'The Other Boleyn Girl' and was made into a movie starring Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johannson as Anne and Mary Boleyn respectively. Anne managed to become the wife of Henry after she forced him to divorce his first wife and also she's the mother to Elizabeth I. Mary on the other hand never get to be Henry's official wife but just his mistress.

The Boleyn sisters...actually WL and YL

Anyway back to Hampton court, this was the place whereby King Henry V stayed and also the home to the famous Tudors dynasty. Hampton court is located a mere hour train ride from London and it's a great place for a day's trip from London. In fact, if you are interested in the whole Tudor/English dynasty, this place is a MUST! And plus the fact that when I was there, there was a reenactment of the wedding between Henry and his six and last wife. A truly good experience!

It felt like I was transport back in time when I stepped through the court. WL and YL had been here before but they gladly came back to show me around (of course it got to do with them no need to pay the entrance fee). We wandered around the court, followed Katherine (Henry's six wife) around for her wedding preparation and going through some maze (though WL had been here before, she got us all lost).

How to get there:
Take the train from Waterloo station in London to the Hampton Court station
It's about 30-40 minutes train ride
Ticket price: about GBP 16 (the last time I was there)
